Moscow
Moscow is immense, and it begins long before you reach it. The distances in Russia are hard to grasp; the sheer expanse of the country puts even its capital into scale. At the centre: cathedrals and churches whose domes you know from pictures and still aren't prepared for, wide boulevards, and a level of care in public space that is impossible to miss.
Subjectively, it is one of the cleanest and safest big cities in this archive. Security checks at every metro entrance and body scanners at the doors of the larger shopping centres are simply part of everyday life. You notice them on the first day and stop noticing on the second.
This is not a political series, and it isn't meant as one. The aim is a neutral eye and an honest picture of what was in front of the camera. Anyone who sees it differently is welcome to a conversation: in person, with curiosity, and gladly over a coffee.
